Sharadiya Navratri fast will start today 26th September and will end on 4th October 2022 with Kanya Pujan on Navami. Many devotees of Goddess Durga fast for the entire nine days, while others fast only on the first two and last two days.

During Navratri, devotees worship the nine forms of Maa Durga for nine days and observe fasts to appease the goddess.

- Wake up early and take a bath
- A fasting person should refrain from consuming it alcoholic beverages or tobacco.
- People can eat kuttu, singara, sabudana, samak, milk and fruits while observing their partial fast.
- Mustard oil and sesame should be avoided. But you can use groundnut oil or ghee as an alternative.
- Processed salt should not be consumed during Navratri and sea salt should be used as an alternative.

- Fresh fruits and vegetables should be a part of a healthy diet. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the fast. Consume juice and coconut water to replenish nutrients lost during fasting. By increasing your fluid consumption you will be stimulated.
- Be sure to get six to eight hours of sleep a night and 15 to 30 minutes a day. In between preparations and celebrations, don’t forget to take a nap. In order for your body to be active and active, it needs sleep.
- To provide the body with essential nutrients that will keep it strong, you can combine high-carb foods like potatoes and sago with fiber-rich vegetables like cabbage, tomatoes, capsicum, bottle gourd, etc.
- During the Navratri fast, you won’t get protein or carbohydrates in your diet, but you can make up for it by eating kuttu-based puris and roti. Kuttu atta is mainly a flour known as buckwheat which is widely consumed during fasting in India.
- You can include samak rice in your diet along with vegetables.
- You may crave sweets occasionally, however, commercially available artificial sugars or sweeteners may not be allowed while you are fasting. Eat fruits, apple kheer, samak rice kheer, raita, almonds, raisins or walnuts to satisfy your cravings.
- Substitute molasses or honey for refined sugar in your diet to avoid using this harmful ingredient.
- To maintain healthy blood pressure levels and help the body absorb more minerals, add rock salt or sandalwood to your food while cooking.
- Avoid overeating root vegetables. Many people add root vegetables to their diet, such as potatoes, yams (jimicand), sweet potatoes, pumpkins, and arabica (Colocasia root).
This vegetable is starchy and packed with fiber, minerals and B vitamins. However, they provide you with a lot of calories, so limit your intake.
